Starbucks summer 2022 drink lineup and products

Starbucks’ summer 2022 drink and product launch is here! The first round dropped in May and the second launched June 21. It celebrates summer with options such as the new Chocolate Cream Cold Brew and Pineapple Passionfruit Refresher.

They are also bringing back the bacon, sausage, and egg wrap. (Some, like me, might call this a breakfast burrito rather than a wrap.) And the always fun unicorn cake pop is returning as well as a cookies and cream cake pop.

In-store summer options

The first summer launch came out on May 10. Starbucks released its second summer launch on June 21.

With the cold coffee drink market skyrocketing, Starbucks is poised to have a great summer season. And because of that, they continue to promote their cold brew with the first seasonal launch.

Starbucks’ summer launch part two focuses on a pineapple passionfruit lineup of beverages.

Chocolate cream cold brew

The Chocolate Cream Cold Brew is new for this 2022 season. Last year they launched the Cold Brew with Dark Cocoa Almondmilk Foam, which is now discontinued. This chocolate cream seems to be Starbucks new solution to offering a chocolate-flavored cold brew drink.

The new drink follows along with their other cold brew drinks, the Salted Caramel Cream and the Vanilla Sweet Cream.

The Chocolate Cream Cold Brew is created by filling your cup with cold brew, adding vanilla syrup, and then topping it with the chocolate cream. To create the cream mixture, Starbucks uses cream, milk, and chocolate malt powder. It’s the same chocolate malt powder that’s used in the Iced Chocolate Almondmilk Shaken Espresso.

Review of the chocolate cream cold brew

The Chocolate Cream Cold Brew is a delicious and welcome addition to the fancy cold brew offerings at Starbucks.

I really enjoyed the smooth malty flavored cream on top of the cold brew. It blends well with the coffee flavor and is sure to be a favorite of many. Using the malt powder instead of the mocha sauce is a great way to provide a different flavor profile than their mocha. It creates another great option for chocolate lovers.

Lime-frosted coconut bar

The lime-frosted coconut bar is a new addition to Starbucks’ food lineup for 2022. This is now a permanent item.

Starbucks says it “combines chewy coconut, oatmeal and mini white chocolate chips, topped with lime frosting, a drizzle of white icing and a sprinkle of coconut shavings, for a taste of summer with every bite.”

Review: I tried the lime-frosted coconut bar and it’s an okay treat but nothing to remember. I wish it was slightly less chewy and had a bit more structure. It’s a bit one-note and needs some crunchiness to round out the texture. I also wish there was a bit more lime flavor to it but do like the coconut.

Pineapple Passionfruit and Paradise Drink Refresher

The highlight of Starbucks’ second summer launch is two new drinks, the Pineapple Passionfruit and Paradise Drink Refreshers.

Starbucks says of the Pineapple Passionfruit Refresher, “The beverage features tropical flavors of pineapple and passionfruit, hand-shaken by Starbucks baristas with real diced pineapple pieces and ice to create a delicious island escape.”

And of the Paradise Drink Refresher Starbucks says, “The new nondairy Paradise Drink Starbucks Refreshers beverage adds coconutmilk to the Pineapple Passionfruit Starbucks Refreshers beverage for a creamy, dreamy, tropical sip.”

“The Paradise Drink Starbucks Refreshers beverage is like sunshine in a cup – the bright tropical flavors are radiant, happy and joyful. It’s the perfect summer sip for a little moment of escape wherever you are,” said Raegan Powell, a senior product developer from Starbucks R&D who led the creation of the new drink.

As the name states, the drink features pineapple and passionfruit as well as diced pineapple inclusions. It also features green coffee extract. You can also add lemonade as a flavor twist.

Other items for summer 2022

These items for this season:

  • Unicorn cake pop (seasonal)
  • Cookies and cream cake pop (seasonal)
  • Chicken, maple butter and egg sandwich
  • Bacon, sausage, and egg wrap (permanent)

Fan-favorite the unicorn cake pop is back for a limited run. Kids around the country are rejoicing and parents are as well.

Review: The bacon, sausage, and egg wrap
I tried it out this morning and it was a big disappointment. It could really use a bit more seasoning. If you are the type of person who orders all your food “plain” then this will be an excellent option for you as-is. For everyone else, bring your own salsa to add a bit of a kick.

Is the S’mores Frappuccino coming back for 2022?

The big question on many minds is, “Is Starbucks bringing back s’mores?” First launched in 2015, the S’mores Frapp has been a fan favorite and had a cult-like following. Unfortunately, the S’mores Frappuccino is not returning for 2022 and has been discontinued.

If you’re looking for something similar and you have Dutch Bros in your area, you are in luck! They are currently featuring their “Campout” drink flavor, which is also meant to represent a s’more. You can order it as a cold brew, or as a freeze to mimic a Starbucks Frappuccino.

Coffee bean options

For this summer, Starbucks is featuring two Reserve coffee bean options. They both launch at the end of June. One will be the Reserve Peru Cajamarca and the other the Reserve Rwanda Hingakawa.
